Spread the Light illuminates London and Luton with vibrant Eid light displays that celebrate unity, diversity, and cultural pride, while fostering deeper understanding of Islamic traditions and engaging all communities.

Spread the Light transforms central public spaces in London and Luton with a month-long Eid light display, inspired by the city’s iconic festive illuminations. The vibrant installations creates a welcoming atmosphere for all, offering residents and visitors the chance to experience the beauty of Eid through shared celebration, cultural pride, and community spirit.

As part of Spread the Light, schools and community groups take part in creative workshops designing and making lanterns. These handmade lanterns will then become part of the public Eid light displays and lantern parades, giving young people and residents a chance to contribute their creativity to the festivities and celebrate together.

Spread the Light offers corporate workshops where teams come together to design and create lanterns that contribute to the public Eid light displays. These sessions provide a unique opportunity for team building while fostering cultural awareness, dialogue, and inclusivity—supporting organisations in their commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion through a shared creative experience.

2026 has been a joyful and inspiring year for Spread the Light, as the project continued to grow and reach new communities. We were proud to take part in Ramadan Lights London, hosted by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. As part of the largest Ramadan light display in Europe, our handcrafted lanterns and costumes helped bring the atmosphere of a vibrant street celebration to life, warmly welcoming visitors and sharing the spirit of Ramadan with thousands of people. We are deeply grateful to our partners, Ramadan Lights UK, whose collaboration made this milestone possible.

We were also delighted to launch our own Ramadan light display at St George's Shopping Centre, creating a bright and welcoming space where the local community could come together, celebrate, and feel part of the season’s joy and reflection.

Looking ahead, we are excited to introduce Together We Spread the Light Luton, a new project funded by the National Lottery Awards for All. In partnership with local schools and The Point Luton, primary school children will design and create beautiful lanterns inspired by Luton’s celebrations marking 150 years as a borough council. The project will culminate in a free town centre celebration, where families will gather for a colourful children’s lantern parade and a lively programme of family entertainment — continuing our vision of bringing people together through creativity, culture, and shared light.
